At The Jobless Wanderer's, we are blessed with five seasons, each with its own charm and wonder. Read on to find out more about your favourite mountainous seasons for informed visit!

Spring 🌸

Fondly called the season of love, spring season in the valley begins from end of February and lasts till April. All the plants and tress begin to flower and the mountain air carries their fragrance all across. The sunsets are long and ethereal while a cool breeze keeps you fresh until a blanket of stars entertains every night.

Picturesque pink and white cherry blossoms enthral your senses with surreal beauty whilst fields of tulips and daisies grow in the wild just like in fairytales! Snow-capped mountains grace majestic views, adorned by fluffy clouds that change shapes and colours through out the day. The crops sown before the winter, in Autumn, is ready to be harvested and our meals are adorned with carrots, turnips, coriander, basil, garlic, onions, etc. The joy of eating local produce and rare wild mushroom such as Morel mushroom, is a blessing of the valley itself.

Period: February end-April

What to expect: Temperature during this season ranges from 15 degrees during day to 7 degrees at night. Warm clothes are advised to be carried.

Summer 🌻

As May enters, the folly of Summer begins! Birds chirping, insects gliding gleefully, radiant colourful skies with rainbows appearing frequently at the horizon. The forest floor gets covered in wildflowers and wild berries while birds sing endless summer tunes. This continues till mid of July.

A perfect time to be outdoors, bonfires under the starry skies or hike into the forest and cook a delicious meal in the wilderness are some of our favourite summer activities. Summer crops such as barley, wheat, peas, mustard, coriander, garlic, onions and few variety of potatoes are harvested during this time, post which, vegetables such as cabbage, tomato, pumpkin, corn is sowed promptly.

Period: May-mid July

What to expect: Temperature during summer ranges from 25 degrees during the day and 14 degrees at night.Light sweaters and shawls are advised to be carried.

Monsoon 🌧️

After enjoying the sun and the outdoors, it is time for the valley to drench in rains! Monsoon in the valley begins in the middle of July and continues till mid-September. Sunflowers, roses and wild dahlias bloom in full swing in this season. The sunsets are of the brightest hues and when mist enters through the windows and doors, it is truly a 'living in the cloud ' dream coming true.

Endless cloud cover accompanied by mist, plays hide-n-seek with the mountains all day long.Surreal landscapes take your breath away as the whole valley dips into veils of crisp white clouds that remind you of fantasy movies from childhood!The wet weather makes it perfect for varieties of edible wild mushroom species to bloom like Cauliflower mushroom, Button mushroom, etc. This season sees sowing of Rajma, corn, potatoes, cauliflower, pumpkin, bitter gourd.

Period: Mid-July to Mid-September

What to expect: Temperature during monsoon ranges from 25 degrees during daytime to 17 degrees at night.Light sweaters and shawls are advised to be carried.

Autumn 🍂

As monsoon comes to an end, it is time for Autumn to reign!From later half of September until end of November, the leaves turn yellow and the forest prepares to take leave for the year. Dramatic skies once again brings in their charm and chilly air makes it ideal for bonfires to huddle around. A perfect time for sky gazing, the star studded night feels very close to the valley then due to absolute clear skies.

A time to resume outdoor activities as well as to prepare for the colder weather to bear, Autumn is a month of gratitude and gathering. The valley dresses up in different shades of beige while the monsoonal harvest of Rajma, potatoes, pumpkin, corn is ready. This makes way for sowing carrots, turnip, fenugreek, coriander, basil, garlic, onions for oncoming Spring.

Period: September end-November

What to expect: Temperature during Autumn ranges from 22 degrees during day and 10 degrees at night. Jackets, sweaters and other warm clothes are advised to carry along.

Winter ☃️

December officially brings in Winter season. Icy cold winds accompanied by heavy snow is the winter vibe of the valley. The ground is blinding-ly white with up to 3 ft of snow while coloured skies don majestic views straight out of fiction. Frosty tree tops and ice sheets between branches lay across the entire valley and no thriving vegetation is possible during this season.

As blizzards and snow storms blanket the grounds and roof-tops, the joy of warmth is cherished more than ever and hot chocolate and teas fill our mugs rapidly. Food becomes ever more precious as winter comes with its own challenges of navigating day-to-day activities in terms of water, cooking, mobility, etc. reminding us constantly to respect and live in harmony with the ecosystem even at its harshest time through. Every bit of energy used at this season has to be performed with purpose.

Period:December-mid February

What to expect: Temperature during Winter ranges from 8 degrees during day and up to -7 degrees at night. Triple layers of both thermal and heavy-set jackets/socks are advised to be carried.
